Clint Eastwood's latest movie Blood Work (he's both the lead actor and the director) starts off really decently, but takes a downhill turn in the last act. It's basically a standard crime-drama/investigation movie, but there is a nice twist: Eastwood plays the guy who's doing this investigation, but he no longer works for the FBI due to a heart-attack he suffered during his last 'official' investigation two years prior. It was amusing how a lot of the other characters would always ask him "Are you okay?" whenever his old age or heart-condition would start to bother him.
The majority of the movie involves Eastwood's investigation into two seemingly-unrelated murders, and this was pretty good stuff. The plot is interesting, and Eastwood is definitely a competent director. However, after the 'solution' to the investigation becomes apparent to Eastwood's character, the movie becomes much less interesting. I was kind of dissappointed that the final act of the film basically degenerated into the usual good-guy bad-guy shootout that's been done so many times before. I also really didn't buy the bizarre romantic relationship that developes between Eastwood and another character.
This would've been a really good movie if it weren't for these two thing.
Many many quality pintos there.
