I can understand why this series of movies has so far gotten a lot of high praise. I mean, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets has got action, comedy, magic, suspense, drama, cool special effects, and a world in which the kids are treated just as seriously as the adults -- just like in The Philosopher's Stone.

But in the end, it didn't seem to me as though any single one of those elements was good enough and strong enough to make for a totally engaging movie. I found that the film was more than a little overlong, and the story took too much time to get in gear. When it did finally kick in, it wasn't all that interesting.

It was definitely not a horrible movie, but I was not particularly impressed. Then again, that could just be because I watched it at ten o'clock in the morning... Bloody hell!
