Steven Spielberg's sequel to 1993's Jurassic Park is a pretty decent movie, mainly because it rips off the best parts of Jurassic Park, and rips them off really darn good (as it should, seeing as both films were made by the same guy). One thing that it doesn't have very much of, though, is the sense of awe and wonder that the first one did. "Oooh! Ahh! That's how it always starts," says Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum). "Then later there's running and screaming." The Lost World is really light on the "Oooh!" and "Ahh!", and really heavy on the running and screaming.
Aside from containing the worst "dinosaur-kicking scene" ever, The Lost World is, I think, a very entertaining -- and underrated -- thriller.
