Yeah, I know it?d be easy for me to pan this movie and justify giving it a low rating just by saying "it's a chick-flick." But that would be pretty unfair, as I generally try to take any movie I see at face value and not come to premature conclusions about it (hey, I really liked Bridget Jones's Diary!)
Having said that, Sweet Home Alabama was pretty lame. There was very little in the way of real humour (there seemed to be many attempts at humour, but a lot of them fell pretty flat), and the story felt really contrived. The biggest problem I had with it, I think, was that I seriously couldn't believe that the Reese Witherspoon character would've made some of the choices that she ended up making in the movie, especially in light of events that occured earlier in the film.
The movie wasn't terrible (it had its positives, like Josh Lucas as the 'hick' love-interest in Alabama; he was pretty good), but overall it was not very memorable.
A simple and intellinget point, well made. Thanks!
