The Spanish film Talk to Her is about two men whose lovers are in comas, unlikely ever to be resuscitated. One of the men had only recently began his relationship; with a female bull-fighter, who is brutally gored during a competition. The other man is a nurse who has fallen in love with the comatose girl (car accident) that he has been hired to look after, and who has never really known the girl, aside from the last four years she's spent in the hospital.
The story doesn't focus a whole lot on the relationships between each man and their respective lovers. It focuses more on the two guys themselves; on how they deal with their situation, and how they eventually become good friends with each other by virtue of discussing their situations with each other. Moreover, the fact that the nurse doesn't even know the girl he's in love with kind of indicates that maybe he's a little bit off his rocker, and this provides the storyline that pushes this film to its conclusion.
Talk to Her is a pretty good film, though it didn't seem to be as "great" as many critics have said it is. I guess I didn't feel quite as much of a connection with the main characters as I would've liked to (as a bit of an example, I think it could've been a fascinating experience if the filmmakers were somehow able to really get me to know the two comatose girls, without ever actually seeing them in flashbacks prior to their accidents. But unfortunately that really wasn't the case).
Still, what is in the movie is pretty good stuff. It's a well-made, fairly original story, and I appreciated that.
It's awlyas a relief when someone with obvious expertise answers. Thanks!
